"The
individual lodges were ideal, giving families their own space
whilst still being together. Beautiful countryside and kind
people. We are now looking for an excuse for another party
so that we can return. - Kathy McKenzie
Acharn lies in the heart of the Scottish Highlands near the old
village of Killin in Perthshire. The holiday cottages and log
cabins are situated in and around a secluded courtyard and are
tastefully equipped and decorated.
The accommodation units are 4-Star rated and the estate
has a superb games and family
room where evenings can be spent enjoying the company
of old friends and new. This room is located away from the
accommodation units so it will not disturb those seeking
peace and quiet and it has a fully equipped kitchen and
cooking facilities to cater for a large group, together
with an indoor barbecue area and a 'stock-your-own' bar.
The estate is operated with activity and comfort in mind. The
grounds contain a superb tennis court, a children's playground
and fishing ponds, where fly fishing (only) with barbless hooks
is permitted on the basis of "catch & release"
with the use of nets when landing fish. The fishing ponds are
tranquil areas, perfect for picnics or just sitting, and the surrounding
hills and woods can be explored directly from the cottages. River
Fishing is available by permit through the local Newsagent.
Killin is a picturesque Highland village situated at the
western end of Loch Tay and is just a 15 minute walk from
the cottages. In Killin you will find spectacular waterfalls,
a Folk Museum, pub, cafe, restaurant and shops. Loch Tay
is a well known water sports centre and at Kenmore you
can enjoy several water-based activities.
The breathtaking mountains in the area offer walking and
hill climbing activities and the trails and glens are
best explored by mountain bike.
This is a very special part of Scotland, steeped in history
and the best that nature has to offer with archaeological
sites and visitor centres to provide a wealth of culture
for all ages.
